Prepare the flag area
Inspect the pole, halyard, access and surrounding ground. The flag should be presented respectfully and remain clearly visible. Avoid decorative treatments that resemble using the national flag as fabric or bunting.
Make sound completely dependable
Test anthem playback from the final device, keep an offline backup and provide a dedicated microphone for the emcee. Outdoor venues may need delay speakers so distant guests hear without excessive volume near the stage.
Rehearse people, not just content
Walk the chief guest, flag attendant, emcee, choir, security and photographers through their positions. Rehearse the anthem cue and the transition into the first address.
Plan for weather and safety
Use weather-rated equipment, covered control positions and non-slip cable protection. Prepare rain shelter, drinking water, first aid and an alternative indoor sequence before event day.
Complete a final 30-minute check
Inspect the flag mechanism, flowers, microphones, anthem backup, podium, guest seating, photography angles and crowd route. Then clear the ceremonial area and begin guest reception calmly.
